In parallel with the famous annually International Conference Series TUSNAD, organised on the topic of built heritage rehabilitation, starting from 1997, a series on historic structures began to offer to specialists an opportunity to discuss major aspects regarding the resistance and the stability of historic buildings.

Among the intervention works on built heritage there is a special one: the one regarding the historic buildings. The technologies of intervention on historic buildings are part of the environment protection regulations, their basic principles – the diminishing of biological, physical, chemical or aesthetic pollution – having to be respected including in the case of intervention technologies. The volume from 2005 includes the lectures given during the 9^th edition of the International Conference on Historic Structures, on the topic Traditional and Innovative Materials and Techniques in the Conservation of Historic Structures.
