The post-conference volume TUSNAD 1996

A mixed network of centres of local power of relatively equal importance: English noblemen had manors on their domains from France, those form France in Germany, the Germans in Italy. Austrian noblemen had estates in Spain, those from Hungary built castles in Transylvania, while rulers from Moldavia and Wallachia also had properties in Transylvania, and so on. This sort of structure, closer to real life, has found itself for a long time in opposition with an arborescent kind of structure, easier to understand and to put into practice, but often incompatible with the existential demands. Like Europe is trying to combine the two types of structure, the volume edited by T3 Publisher from Sfântu Gheorhe, includes the lectures of the 5th edition of the Conference Series on Theoretical and Practical Issues on Built Heritage Conservation – TUSNAD, having as topic the Castles and Mansions from Eastern Europe. By this it tries to define the trans-frontier region, to draw the frame of the local interests and to compare the local environment. The texts of this publication were edited in four languages, in the idea of the Transylvanian multiculturalism.
